Are we aware of our privileges?
People are dying every minute because of this disease. No antidotes have been found to eliminate it. Poverty is like an epidemic with no antidote affecting the entire world. I felt this when such a disease was in the air, I was standing near my window in Mumbai and gazing out there at those blocks. While I enjoy my rich tea along with the drizzling rain, I wonder if they can drink drinkable water. I wonder if she can dare to dream of living like Cinderella and he can think of enjoying life carefree. I know poverty is a state of one who lacks a certain amount of material possession or money, they might have little or no material means of survival- little or no food, shelter, clothes, healthcare, education, and other physical means of living and improving one’s life, and this makes me realize how much we possess to live without thanking. In fact everyone should sit back and realize about how comfortably they are living their lives and be grateful for all those unnoticed essential things that down and out people can’t even think of possessing. We have come a long way, we have come so far, in fact that you and I are privileged to live in the sophisticated society and in the fastest developing nation, but there are those people who are seized in this poverty, despite the growth and development of the Indian economy. And I am pretty sure amidst the pandemic, the situation of the economy has worsened and theirs's also.
Definitely we live in a democratic and libertarian society. We all have an equal say in the society but no, it is just an illusion when it comes to the underprivileged section of the society. They feel their state speaks in the society but there is no one to acknowledge them. This notion reminds me of Shakespeare’s writing, “When beggars die there are no comets seen, the heaven themselves blaze forth the death of prince’s.”

DeleteA few words has left me thinking deeply. You've addressed this issue in a simple yet powerful way. This issue is still gripping our society at the roots so tightly. Privileged people should indeed be grateful for the comfortable life they have received and should also not back away from contributing to help make poor people's standard of living better.
ReplyDeleteThank you Ayushi for the compliment. Indeed we should not forget about our privileges while ignoring the state of our country. After all we are the youth and the future handler of the nation.
